Cancer Biology

This course provides students with an understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of cancer. Topics include: cell growth and cell death, oncogenes and tumor-suppressor genes, cell cycle regulation, tumor development, invasion and metastasis, and treatment of cancer. hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis and its role in reproduction. It discusses the anatomy and hormonal control of the male and female reproductive systems at different developmental stages, and the mechanisms of fertilization and implantation. The endocrinology of pregnancy is also considered.
