The rules for posting here, and how to ask for something to be removed.
Who can use Studiety
Studiety is for AUB students. You need an account to contribute, and you must confirm your email address before you can review, upload or tutor. One account per person. Don't share your login, and don't create accounts to impersonate anyone.
Writing about courses and professors
Honest criticism of a course is the point of this site, and a negative review is welcome. What is not welcome is anything that stops being about the teaching:
- Review the course and the teaching — not someone's appearance, accent, nationality, religion, gender, politics or private life.
- Write what you experienced. Don't state things as fact that you don't know to be true, and don't accuse anyone of misconduct, dishonesty or a crime. Take that to the university, which can actually investigate it.
- No harassment, slurs, threats, or targeting an individual.
- Don't post anyone's personal contact details, including a professor's.
- Don't post reviews for courses you haven't taken, and don't post repeatedly to push a rating up or down.
Reviews are the opinions of the students who wrote them. They are not statements by Studiety, and Studiety does not verify them.
Uploading files
Only upload material you have the right to share. Past papers, slides and notes are often the copyright of the professor or the university, and posting them can infringe that copyright or breach AUB's academic integrity rules. Never upload anything from an exam you are currently sitting, anything marked confidential, or anyone's graded work but your own.
By uploading, you confirm you have the right to share the file and you allow Studiety to host and display it to other students. You keep whatever rights you already had.
Tutoring
Tutor listings are between students. Studiety does not employ tutors, does not verify the grades or GPA anyone reports, does not handle payment, and is not responsible for what happens in a tutoring arrangement. Tutoring must not extend to doing someone's graded work for them.
Moderation and takedowns
We can hide or remove anything that breaks these rules, and suspend accounts that repeatedly do. You can report a review from its page and we will look at it.
If you are a professor, a rights holder, or AUB and something here concerns you — a review you believe is defamatory, a file that infringes your copyright, or personal information that should not be published — write to us and we will review it promptly. Tell us the page address, what specifically is wrong, and how to reach you.
Your account
You can delete your account at any time — see Privacy. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why.
No warranty
Studiety is provided as it is, by students, for free. Course information is drawn from AUB's public catalogue and can be out of date or wrong — always confirm with AUB before you register. We don't promise the site will be available without interruption, and we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of what you read here.
Independence
Studiety is not operated, endorsed or approved by the American University of Beirut.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we will say so on the site before the change takes effect.
