Selected Topics in Biology

Students study recent and current biological issues and topics in the area of specific competence of the course instructor (or groups of instructors). Prerequisite: Consent of advisors. BIO 491 Internships; 1 cr. This internship course offers undergraduate biology students the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a professional setting related to their field of study. The aim is to deepen students’ understanding of biological sciences and connect their academic studies with potential career opportunities. Students are required to submit a scientific report and deliver a seminar upon completion of this course. Prerequisite: Senior Standing. BIO 495 Research in Biology; 1 cr. This course is based on an independent research project in an area of biology under the direction of a faculty mentor. Students work on an experiment-based project that employs the scientific method, submit a scientific study report and give a seminar upon completion of the work. Prerequisite: Senior Standing.
