International Law of Territory

Basic principles of the international law of territory, including the definition of territory, the forms it may take, its relationship to states and other subjects of international law, how territory is acquired, how it is lost and how it is transferred, how it is delimited and demarcated, how the title to territory is affected by historical and demographic factors, and traditional and contemporary principles and mechanisms for resolution of territorial disputes. Consideration of the modification of these principles since World War II and their possible application to several intense postCold War territorial disputes.
