This course takes into consideration the instructor’s specialization and the student’s interest and requires the completion of a research paper. Prerequisite/Corequisite: none. COA Seminar in Mass Communication Law and Ethics (3.0); 3 cr. This course studies the legal and ethical controls of media such as government regulations and industry laws. Codes of ethics and traditional societal or self-imposed guidelines that govern the performance of the media are discussed. This course incorporates the implications of religious morals, specifically those of the Catholic Church, on the legal and ethical functions of the mass media.
