Current Issues

In this course, students will be introduced to local, regional, and international events and issues that are affecting the world today. The role and responsibility of the global citizen will be emphasized as the class conducts research on, develops understanding of, and examines the coverage given by the media on various issues. Class discussions and presentations on various political, economic, and social issues constitute a sizable bulk of the course’s material. Topics may include globalization, Environmental concerns, Terrorism, Nuclear Proliferation, World hunger, drugs, and the relationship between developing countries and developed countries.
