PES 420Theory of Fitness Coaching

This course incorporates the basic components of fitness and wellness in order to better understand human health and well-being. Students will learn to design, implement, and evaluate personal fitness and wellness programs. Topics covered will include incorporating exercise into every lifestyle, including youth, the elderly, and expecting mothers. In addition, nutrition, weight management, and stress management will be studied. The latest fitness and wellness research will also be analyzed and interpreted. Prerequisite: PES 358. PES Emphasis is placed on the development of fundamental skills and acquisition of techniques of teaching skiing and snowboarding. This is an accelerated course that will take place during the winter season over the course of a specific number of trips to ski resorts for intensive practical sessions. Priority is given to physical education majors. Prerequisite: PES 321.
