History and Analysis of Western Music: Medieval - Baroque Classical Period

This course is a survey of composers, pieces, languages, and styles of medieval, baroque, and classical periods. The instructor focuses on explaining the basic concepts of these periods concerning art, philosophy, and music languages. The teaching process emphasizes analyzing scores as played on instruments or recordings. Prerequisite: MUS 215.
