Description
The international aspects of economics remain as important and controversial as ever. Topics of discussion in this course include absolute and comparative theory, Heckscher-Ohlin theory, Krugman model, equilibrium under free and fixed exchange rate regimes, international monetary system, and optimal currency areas. Based on extra readings, students will understand the causes of past financial crises in developed and developing countries, the growing trade and financial linkages between industrial, emerging and developing countries, the role of international organizations, and the advantages/disadvantages of globalization. Prerequisites: ECN 211, ECN 212.
