LAS 212HCommunication in the Age of AI

This Honors course examines Hybrid Human–AI Communication, the collaborative exchange between human intelligence and generative tools to create and share knowledge. Students master functional, critical, and rhetorical literacies through Human-to-AI dialogue (prompt engineering, AI-simulated interviews) and AI-augmented Human-to-Human communication (peer interviews, research pitches, and short public talks for varied audiences). Students pitch and position original research to real stakeholders, adapting claims and delivery to disciplinary and public contexts. Examining the ethics of a post-plagiarism environment, students treat AI as a research partner, producing a professional project synthesizing AI-generated data with human insight. As an Honors anchor course, it demands interdisciplinary collaboration, self-directed inquiry, and sustained ethical engagement with AI-mediated communication beyond standard expectations.
