This course offers future teachers the opportunity to explore the mathematics content and strategies for teaching math in the elementary grades. It emphasizes the development of conceptual understanding of the content present in the curriculum and on deepening the pedagogical content knowledge of future teachers. Topics include problem solving, reasoning, numeration and whole numbers, fractions, decimal numbers, operations on numbers, measurement, elementary number theory (including LCM and GCF), integers, and rational numbers. Prerequisites: ENG102 (3 – 0) 3 credits.
