LLM 524Torts: Pers. Injury & Negligence

A tort is a civil wrong that unfairly causes a person or property else to suffer loss or harm resulting in legal liability for the person who commits the tortious act. This course will, inter alia, allow the students to (i) understand how the law operates when a tortious act is committed; (ii) assess the circumstances and theories behind a tortious act; (ii) understand how damages are determined; and (iii) analyze the impact of the “intention” on a person’s liability. The topics of causation, damages, strict liability, product liability, nuisance and commercial torts will be addressed. [3-0, 3 cr.].
