Human Rights in the Middle East

Survey of the fundamental political, social, and cultural rights of the human being in the MENA region. The course focuses on the principles, conventions, treaties, and laws ratified by governments on the international, regional, and national levels and the ways through which violations of human rights are documented and countered. Emphasis will be placed on the interplay between the human rights traditions of the West and those of the MENA region.
