Labor Economics

The course is an analytical study of the labor market. It uses microeconomic theory to explain the functioning and the dynamics of labor supply and demand. It examines labor mobility, productivity, wage determination, the decisions of prospective and present labor market participants, and the roles of public policies and labor unions relating to the employment and payment of labor resources. It also covers topics including human capital accumulation, wage determination, inequality in earnings, unions and collective bargaining, training and human resource development, and labor discriminations. Prerequisites: ECN 211, ECN 212.
