JudeoArabic and the Arabic Writings of Maimonides (Ibn Maymum)

An introduction to Judeo-Arabic (Middle Arabic) focusing on Ibn Maymun and his writings. The class emphasizes the influence of Arabic on medieval Hebrew. Through the reading of his texts, students will discover the Andalusian physician and philosopher from his childhood in Cordova to his position as the personal doctor of Salaheddine and the head of the Jewish community in Cairo.
