Description
A survey of the main doctrines, terms, and modes of expression that are peculiar to the major Muslim sects (firaq) in the medieval age, and the impact they had on literature. Mu’tazila, Ash’ariyya, and Imamiyya, constitute the focal point of the course, which includes readings in selected representative texts.
