Description
A survey of Arabic poetry during the Abbasid period while considering the historical, political, and social background. The first part of the course deals with the major poets of the early Abbasid era, which ends during the reign of al-Mu’tasim; while the second part surveys the poetry of the latter Abbasid age up to the fall of Baghdad.
