This course examines the economics of the public sector. It has two broad topics: government expenditures and revenues. Topics include: market failures and optimal taxation, cost/benefit analysis of government projects, income redistribution and poverty programs, political economy and voting; economics of local governments; budget deficits; inflation; tax systems.
