History of Modern Europe, 1815-1945

A chronological and topical survey of the political and socio-economic forces that have shaped modern Europe and the rest of the world, including the development of ideologies, the advent of imperialism, World War I, the great depression, and the rise of totalitarian regimes and World War II. Attention is given to teaching students how to tackle historical problems and how to initiate and conduct research. Open to freshman students only.
