Interesting course. The material (both movies and readings) offer insight on new concepts and approaches. The workload however is heavy, especially the final paper which is rather long. The course itself offers a good experience, if only it were a little less heavy and the grades were a little more generous.
Amazing course! Changed my perspective of movies and their interpretations, classes usually go like this: two classes watch a movie, two other classes rewatch movie and interpret (take notes!) and after every movie there’s a 2 page analysis and yeah I highly recommend it but you gotta put some effort in
Very nice course. Take a lot of notes, read a bit online about the movies and you’re good to go. Workload: I remember after every movie there was a short 2 page analysis, also: midterm, final, midterm paper and final paper
I took it in summer and it was very demanding. had to submit a weekly assignment and the teacher wasn't very generous in grades. The course is interesting, you watch movies (old ones) in class and write an analysis about each. There's a book to read and use the technical words from (the teacher used to comment stuff during the movie only). We had a midterm but no final, just a final paper (a huge one!). Honestly the class wasn't worth the effort at all neither the time spent during summer. I think the problem is mainly with the instructor. It was a struggle to barely get a 7.5/10 (most of the class had similar grades except few). Take it but just make sure that the instructor is good enough.
